You probably already know I run the July #ZenArtChallenge over on my Instagram Account, @MindfulCreativity. Did you know, that challenge has officially been running over a year now. We have close to 7000 members in our Facebook community who take part in the monthly challenge!!! If you don’t know what the #ZenArtChallenge is or all the huge benefits you can get from it… read this older post from when we started and hear what people are saying about it… Benefits of the #ZenArtChallenge. Why I Created This Challenge I am honored to spread the love of art and simply showing others that you do have a creative side. Also, if you read my last post, dealing with bouts of depression, I am SO learning the importance of self care. Taking a few minutes of the day to read, be creative, watch a movie…. is something I need to help me feel better inside. I love this challenge as it brings … Continue reading →
The other day, I talked about getting so feed up with my health and my weight that I knew it was time to draw that line in the sand and just get started. That was also because in January I went through and reviewed my Level 10 Goals for what I wanted to achieve this year. And… one of them was to improve my health and to lose weight…. so I took action. Then there was the category for spiritual goals, and I had to question my own spiritual journey. That is when I discovered Bible Journaling. But, one of the categories on the Level 10 Goal Sheet is to review your spiritual goals. It’s funny, I have often completed the Level 10 goal sheet many times and simply left out that part of the goal setting categories. See if you know me, “religion” isn’t “my thing”. I never judge anyone for their journey. My husband is Jewish, so religion is part … Continue reading →
Since I was introduced to bullet journaling, one of the things I absolutely fell in love with was the absolutely gorgeous handwriting in the planners. As an engineer, I spent many hours handwriting on drawings. Therefore, my basic handwriting or capital letter writing was basic and readable. But, over the years my handwriting became more like a doctor’s pad, something only I could read. I was always writing fast, not “pretty.” So…. I wanted to learn how to do all this fancy handwriting. I admit… I bought books on lettering. I even bought a calligraphy set and dabbled in it. It was a good start, but not really what I was looking for to have that nice font to just make headers in my bullet journal. Then I spent HOURS on Pinterest searching for fonts. I created albums of fonts and just went about coping them. WOW, was that time consuming. But, it was getting me closer. THEN… I FOUND MAGIC … Continue reading →
Have you heard about the ZenArtChallenge and considered joining, but just wasn’t sure if it was for you. Maybe you think you can’t draw, or don’t have the time/patience for it? I wanted to share a few reasons why you might want to consider joining the challenge. Have you ever just sat in quiet and let your mind shut off? If you are like me, it’s probably a huge struggle. My mind always has a scrolling marquee running. The daily to do’s, the bills I need to pay, work, life, family… But, the “experts” all say that we should be quiet for a few moments. Start asking our mind to focus on what we want. Ask it questions, like – How can I earn a little extra income. How can I grow my business. When you start asking your mind questions you seek answers too, trust me it starts to find the answers. It helps your mind seek out and … Continue reading →

One of the questions I get often in that group is how to do shading. Today, I wanted to share 2 quick tips with you! 1. I often mentioned my favorite pens, the Microns. I love these pens because they come in various tip widths. I typically use from 005 up to 08. Now a quick tip how I use them. See sketch I attached for reference below. * I almost always use an 01 pen. I love the thin line work of the pen. Plus it always makes my drawings look more delicate and … Continue reading →
Do you ever find a hobby you love, but you really don’t have time for it? For me, I feel that I have this huge list of things I “need to do” and often push aside the things I “want to do”. Thus, my hobbies sit in a corner, and often they are never touched. Ever since I was young, I loved to draw. As I got older, the time to draw just got pushed aside even more. with my adult responsibilities. Then later, I just felt “untalented” and again, never really continued my love of art. I’d dabble in it, take a class, … have fun and then realized… time was always an issue, and back in the closet those supplies went. About a year ago, someone introduced me to Zentangle. I instantly fell in love.. Zentangle is an art form that reminds me of doodling. But, structured and … so easy to follow to create something … Continue reading →
I love to create things. I Zentangle (art work) in the morning, I create projects to help my team, I create these blog posts, I create systems to be organized around my house … My mind goes 100 miles an hour to create things. Problem is, I sometimes lack focus. And that means I jump from project to project. Thus… I start one and never finish it because I am off and running to do the next big thing. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Oh look, a squirrel.” Yup, I get squirrelly and chase the next idea without finishing the first. But, that lack of focus doesn’t move me closer to my goals and dreams. I seriously believe it’s also a symptom of ADD. Moving on from one thing to the next, not focused and not finishing anything. The problem with that is things in my life never move forward. I feel my house is never clean, that project … Continue reading →
